Sebastien Ortega
Founder and Director
Sebastien is a passionate and qualified coach with over 15 years experience in Europe and Asia. From mini tennis to high performance players, he tries to transmit the values he believes in, as hard work, resilience, passion and respect.
Qualified as “Mini Tennis”, “Level 1” and “Level 2” Coach for the Belgian Tennis Association, Cardio Tennis Instructor, RPT Director of Tennis, ITF Academy Training, Sebastien believes that there is not one method or system that is best for developing players. Instead, as coaches, we learn about individual students and draw from our range of tools to get the best out of each and every student.
After 15 years of coaching in the prestigious Royal Leopold Club, Brussels, Sebastien arrived in Hong Kong in 2017, recruited as the Head Coach of Bruguera Tennis at the Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy. He joined the reputable Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club in July 2019 and ultimately launched Ortega Tennis, designing a holistic tennis training program that focuses on individual development.
Umaru Balami
Head Tennis Coach
Umaru is a highly experienced coach and former professional player, having represented Nigeria in the Davis Cup. Throughout his career, he competed in over 95 finals and semifinals across national and international tournaments. Umaru traveled extensively with players on the ITF/CAT Africa Tour, USTA Tour, ITF Tour, ATP Challenger Tour, and Davis Cup, gaining invaluable insights and expertise at the highest levels of the sport.
After concluding his professional playing career, Umaru dedicated himself to coaching, sharing his knowledge and experience in Nigeria, the United States, and the UAE. His diverse background and passion for development make him a vital part of Ortega Tennis Academy, where our focus is on elevating Hong Kong Tennis to the next level.
Our mission is to foster maximum growth and efficiency for every player within a supportive, user-friendly environment. Whether working with young children just starting their tennis journey, ambitious juniors competing nationally and internationally, or recreational players, Umaru’s coaching philosophy centers on individual development and a love for the game.
KD Mosqueda
Head Tennis Coach
Kurt Mosqueda is a dedicated and enthusiastic coach, recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Fitness & Sports Management. He played for the University of Santo Tomas, serving as the Captain of the Men’s Tennis Team, and has demonstrated strong leadership and competitive spirit throughout his career.
Currently, Kurt ranks within the former top 56 in the singles division and former top 64 in the doubles division of the Hong Kong National Rankings. His passion for tennis and his natural talent for teaching began at a young age, having started coaching during his vacations.
Kurt’s energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to development inspire players to reach their full potential. His fresh perspective and love for the game make him an exciting addition to our coaching team, dedicated to helping players elevate their skills and love for tennis.
Anjelica Mosqueda
Tennis Coach
Anjelica is a dedicated and enthusiastic coach with a strong background in fitness and sports management. A recent graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Fitness and Sports Management. Throughout her university years, Anjelica excelled in playing and representing her team, gaining valuable experience and nurturing a deep passion for the sport.
Beyond her love for tennis and sports, she has a genuine desire to teach and share her knowledge with aspiring players. Her energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to development make her a valuable addition to our coaching team. Anjelica believes in fostering a positive environment for players to grow, learn, and enjoy the game to the fullest.
